Our Fairness in Practice Workshops provide participants with the opportunity to explore the principles of administrative fairness and effective complaint resolution.
In this three-hour workshop, learn about administrative fairness and why it is important at post-secondary institutions. We will cover how post-secondary staff and faculty can follow fair decision-making processes, exercise discretion fairly and deliver fair and equitable services.
Two separate three-hour virtual sessions are scheduled:
Tuesday, February 4: 9:00am-12:00pm (FULL)
Thursday February 13: 9:00am-12:00pm (FULL)
Friday, February 28: 9:00am-12:00pm (FULL)
Please note: we have modified our six-hour Fairness in Practice workshops to create a new modified three-hour version. If you have already taken Fairness in Practice, this workshop will be repetitive.
The Fairness in Practice workshops offer training in administrative fairness to public sector employees and cover topics such as:
• What administrative fairness means in public service delivery
• How to follow a fair decision-making process
• How to make and communicate decisions fairly
• Service fairness essentials
• Complaint handling skills
This training is offered virtually via Zoom and is interactive. We use Mentimeter, a participant engagement tool, which requires participants to open up a separate browser page on their computer or use of a smart phone. Instructions on how to use the tool will be given during the workshop.
Be ready to contribute your thoughts, engage in small group discussions, and have your cameras and microphones on during breakout rooms.
