Overcharge overturned

Ministry of Health

Marianne received the bill for her husband’s residential care fees that she believed was too high. Not sure where to turn, she contacted us.

We investigated and found that indeed Marianne had been overcharged by $404.87 because of an error in how the Continuing Care Fees Regulation was being calculated during a particular month. Marianne was reimbursed as a result of this error. As our investigation concluded that a similar miscalculation was used for others, the ministry also committed to direct all health
authorities to contact clients, their families or their estates who may have been potentially eligible for a refund. We confirmed this action was taken by the ministry and closed our file.
